Suggest Treatment For Frequent Infection And Abscess While Treating Diabetes

Posted on Tue, 21 Apr 2015
Question: My eighty year old husband has a problem with abcess. The least littel bite by an insect can bring one on, or a scrape. About a week ago he bumped against a tree limb with his chest, as he tryed to move it. This was on Saturday midday, by Monday the area was very painful, swollen and pus under the skin. He told me he had on a shirt with a tee shirt under it. The skin didn't seem to have been injured. The swollen bump had to be lanced and packed with gauze to facilitated the absorbtion of the pus. Our doctor also placed him on antibiotics. What could be the causing the broblem of these frequent infections? I am very concerned, and would welcome an answere if posible, thanks.

Brief Answer:
Diabetes or immuno compromised status.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
He has frequent infection even with mild trauma.
These conditions are common in diabetes or immunocompromised patients.
He should check for blood sugar level and HIV testing.

Frequent infection is very common in diabetes. so first thing to rule out is diabetes.

Right now he is suffering from abscess, so need higher antibiotics treatment.

Continue with antibiotics till infection subsides. Then go for testing as I told you.

Give me follow up with your blood sugar and HIV reports.

Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
