Posted on Tue, 7 Jul 2015
Question: Wondering what could be causing the skin on my daughters feet to blister. The skin is also peeling from her lips. She has allergies. Could this be from an allergic reaction or perhaps a viral or bacterial or fungal infection? She's had a lot of anomolous issues since birth and we dont want it become debilitating in the future

I will post photos

Brief Answer:
Keep child hydrated

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query at HCM
I understand your concern and situation.

I suggest that your child is having some sought of allergic or infection. As you told she had allergies before so it could be also a cause Is the temperature in your area quite low or high? Is your daughter playing with water often? As of now I think it is not a serious problem and need no specific treatment. You can get skin scrapping done for microscopy of fungal elements. Apply moisturizer on both area feet and lips. Do not expose child for prolonged period to cold and water. Do apply some mild soap for daily use. The most important is give her plenty of water to keep her hydrated.

Take care.

Thank you. She likes taking long baths, so we will shorten those up. I will talk to her pediatrician about fungal. She had horizontal toenail ridges when she was about a year old. I cant remember for how long or how old she was when it started. Do you recommend any particular testing we could conside?r

No further particular tests needed. It appears small problem. Avoid immersion in water for long which is most likely the cause.

Take care
