Suggest Treatment For Food Allergy
Question: My wife ate some sausage two weeks ago, which resulted in seizures - tightening of muscles and pain in stomach - and involuntary spasms. Now it appears dairy products create the same affect.
BP is 140/94 and normal is 115/70
Is my wife suffering from Anaphylaxis? What do we do at this time?

Hi Sir.
I understand your query and concern.
This is exactly not termed as Anaphylaxis, but is referred to as Severe Food Allergy with some degree of lactose intolerance.
Anaphylaxis can be termed only when there is gross cardiovascular instability in the form of very low blood pressure and significant respiratory difficulty.
Seizures alone does not mark anaphylaxis. Involuntary muscle spasms are a part of seizure activity.
BP is slightly higher, but is expected in concurrent seizure activity.
All you currently need to do is to rule out any pathological/organic disease contributing to seizure activity before presuming ourselves to be associated Severe Food Intolerance.
For this I advise your wife to have a an MRI brain-fast spin echo with an EEG/electroencephalogram.
Once these tests show rule out results,we can proceed to treatment with Anti allergic medications with or without short course of anti seizure medications.
