Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Thanks for writing to us.

Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) of adult is a psychiatric condition in which person has difficulty in concentrating at a particular task, restlessness, and irritability and secondary occupational/study or social disturbances. Many times it is there with depression also. History of similar symptoms in childhood should also be evaluated to reach diagnosis.

One needs to consult psychiatrist or the doctor who deals with such cases. For confirmation of diagnosis detail history and mental status examination are needed.

Treatment included activating medicines from amphatamine group (methyphenidate or Lisdexamfetamine) or NRI group ( Atomoxetine or bupropion).
Simultaneously counseling and supporting psychotherapy to improve concentration are also needed.
ADD is curable after sufficient treatment. It takes 6 to 10 weeks for complete improvement if response to medicine is good. Simultaneously counseling and behaviour therapy are necessary so after stopping the medicines problem does not reappear.
After complete improvement medicines can be stopped gradually depending upon clinical scenario in 4-6 months.

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.
Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.
