Question: Hello Doctor, My 3+ years old girl is suffering from fever (range up to 102) with abdominal pain. It starts 2-3 days with vomiting & later loose motions (green color and watery). First day Doctor prescribed Domestal and next day he prescribed MIFUCET (3 times a day) and oflotas oz (2 times a day) with darolac XXXXXXX twice a day. We gave medicines, and fever and loose motions stopped in 2 days. she started to ask for food and her potty also convert into normal color but not regular. But her abdominal pain is still exist and she always indicate pain in her stomach in intervals, mainly after eating and drinking. From last day, her fever also repeated (may be due to as we stopped MIFUCET) she is quite active also, but complaining about pain in stomach and fever. We discussed with doc, he said tht as we give only 1 spoon MIFUCET to her, so dosage r not full as per her weight. now what to do, please suggest URGENT.

Brief Answer:
avoid mifucet

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to health care magic.
Vomiting and loose stools usually take a few days to settle.
Its usually a viral infection or food poisoning.
The toxins take a few days to get cleared.
Until then intermittent pain can be present
If your daughter is otherwise active and passing urine well, dont worry.
The problems will settle in a few days.
MIFUCET is mefanamic acid , which by itself can cause gastritis and pain.
AVOID IT.
Cant understand why your doctor said so. No need for further doses of mifucet.
Simple Paracetamol is enough for fever ( give only if temp>100)

Try antacids like lanzoprazole junior . I usually prescribe 15 mg once daily before food for 5 days.

Wishing speedy recovery

Hello Doctor,

Today we visited another MD Pediatrics, who prescribed following medicines,
1. CO2 syrup (Cefixime+ofloxacin oral suspension) 5 ml 2 times a day
2. Rantac Syrup (Randitidine Oral Solution) 3.5 ml 2 times a day
3. ONDEM (if vomit)
4. MEFTAL - P (SOS, fever >100 degree)

What you suggest? please let me know,
doctor

Brief Answer:
first three are ok

Detailed Answer:
First three can be given.
Am glad it includes acidity reducers like rantac.
But avoid meftal p . It's the same mefenamic acid. Give crocin or paracetamol only for fever.
Regards
