default
Posted on Thu, 2 Apr 2015
Question: I have hvv6 and associated chronic fatigue adrenal hypothyroid etc. diagnosed by Holtorf clinic in XXXXXXX ca. However they are too expensive to see regularly and most interested in selling their supplements . I have recurrent ( every 2 to 3 months) herpes hvv6 lip outbreaks but acyclivor can prevent lip eruption if taken early enough so the worst sympton is the general flunlike malaise associated with. Stress is a major contributor.
I am not a hypochondriac but seem to have always had a weak immune system, i e fatige easily all my life. Ive taken all kind of supplements vit c drips etc. im done with specialists who dont take insurance . So i "limp" along doing the best i can having had my bank account drained with no real answers for treating adrenals thyroid and hv6 .
NOW i have skin eruptions occuring on extremeties. Been to derm 5 times. Not scabies altho it is clusters of pin prick scabs or scrstch like scabs leaving craters when top is scratched off .... Have tried every topical rx the derm can think of. All they say is dont worry

Brief Answer:
Xerosis/ dryness of skin with secondary excoriations due to scratching

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I have taken note of your query and I have also reviewed the Image.

In this Image I can see linear excoriated lesions probably secondary to scratching.

I suggest a possibility of Xerosis/ severe dryness of skin leading on to itching and subsequent scratching and erosions.

The significant points in your history that i can gather are that you are hypothyroid. Hypothyroidism is a very common cause of Xerosis and skin itching.

Also the fact that skin loses its water retentive capacity with age and becomes dry and tends to itch. This is known as senile xerosis.

Together these 2 factors i.e Hypothyroidism and Senile Xerosis are the likely reasons for severe dryness and itching and consequent scratching/ exoriations.

If I was the treating doctor I would suggest you to use an intensive moisturizer cream/ lotion, twice daily, throughout. Use it twice daily.

An OTC oral antihistamine e.g cetrizine 10 mg once or twice daily will provide you symptomatic relief from itching.

You may use a topical OTC antibacterial e.g 2% mupirocin or 1% framycetin sulphate, specifically at scratch sites to help them heal faster.

Regards
Of course, there is nothing to worry.
