Suggest Treatment For Facial Swelling After Recovering From Sinus Infection
Question: My 10 year olds face is swollen on the right side. It is his entire side below the eye. He has a raw place next to a back tooth that is mostly in. I am unclear as to whether it is related. He complained of his eyes when he moved them last week. He just (hopefully) got over a sinus infection. I don't know what to do. Should I take him to Emergency or wait to see his pediatrician tommorow?
Brief Answer:
Seek urgent dental care
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
The black tooth concerns me. It is highly possible that the swelling on the right of his face is due to the infection from his cavity spreading to the surrounding areas and in that case immediate intervention by a doctor should be necessary. Please visit a dentist and get him assessed at the earliest. Alternatively, you can visit the ER where they might be able to prescribe antibiotics but would probably not be able to evaluate the condition of the tooth. I would not insist you to wait for your pediatrician till tomorrow.
About his sinus infection, giving him steam inhalation should provide relief.
Regards

I did not say "black" tooth. I said back tooth.
Brief Answer:
Sorry for the error
Detailed Answer:
Let me apologize for getting it incorrectly. But still, he requires to be evaluated and you need to take him either to the ER or to the dentist at the earliest.
