Question: I have a deep popping click in my back, anytime i walk or bend i can feel it, it sounds like when you click your tongue in your mouth. The area around it is deeply cramping and i feel like im going to puke. the local clinic gave me a shot of toradol maybe two weeks ago and then told me to take it easy. its not going away or getting better. my regular doctors office cant get me in until monday. Is this something i should go to the hospital for?

Brief Answer:
Facet joint crepitus

Detailed Answer:
hi thanks for your question

most pops and clicks felt in the spine emanate from the facet joints.

in the absence of pain they should be ignored. if they are painful then they should be investigated and the most likely explain action is degeneration or arthritis in these joints.

this can be treated with simple pain medication and physiotherapy for core strengthening. injections of local anesthetic and steroid into the facet joints can also be of benefit.

I hope this answers your question

best wishes
