Question: I am 75 and never have swelling under my eye. It was very large 1.5 in diameter. Spongy to the touch, and later I developed a stye in the eye above this swelling. What could have caused this.
The swelling receded after 2 days.
Warm compressss caused the white pimple to open up.
It is red there. Cont to use clean warm compresses!

My dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us.

This was a lid margin infection, this was a infection at the base of hair follicle. There are a series of glands in the lid margin, known as meibomian glands. They may also get infected like this.

You've followed a correct regime and it is good that you are better now.

If still there is Pus discharge from the point then antibiotic eye ointment can be applied at bed time.
