Suggest Treatment For Enlarged Lymph Nodes In Neck With Dizziness

default

Question: Should I be concerned. My 4 year old got out of bed this evening saying that the room was spinning. He seemed fine but kept rubbing his forehead. Also in the last couple months he's had enlarged lymph nodes around his neck. He's had a blood test which was all clear. I'm wondered if the lymph nodes are associated with his enlarged tonsils which he's had since birth. Just looking for a bit of advise really

Brief Answer:
Swollen glands in neck might be associated with enlarged tonsils

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query in Healthcaremagic.com.
This is Dr. Swarnava Dattagupta answering your query.

I understand your concern.
For your first query, I believe you should not be worried as head spinning after suddenly getting out of bed is common and it is due to postural hypotension in most cases. If there is no frequent repetition of such symptoms, there is nothing to worry. Children may also show such symptoms in cases of malnourishment due to generalised weakness; so take care of that if there is any such possibility.
Tonsils are lymphoid tissues also and enlarged tonsils are commonly associated with enlarged lymph nodes in neck. Tonsillitis is common in many children which gets better alongwith advancement of age. But in cases of persistence of such symptoms, removal of tonsils might be performed after a certain age. For that, regular followup by a physician or an ENT surgeon is advisable.
Dont worry as of now, but do keep an eye on your kid for symptoms.

Hope I have answered your question.
If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Regards.
