Question: Hi,
I am a diabetic diagnosed a year back, I am having high BP ( under control) and high uric acid. Recently I am having more gout attacks than I had previously. Also when I go for walk, my pain increases and for that I have stopped walking/ exercising. I was taking Zyloric 100 mg but my doctor now changed it to Febuget 80. But still I am having pain in my feet although it is not that bad. I am taking BP tablets and Glycomet 500mg for sugar. Why I am having more attacks now than earlier and what to do for that?

Brief Answer:
diet changes

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting the question.
I have gone through your medical history in detail.

From the symptoms,it seems that the raised uric acid levels may be due to diet changes (eating more non-vegeterian food, soda drinks, alcohol, red meat) or this may be due to side effect of the blood pressure and diabetes medicine that you are taking.

You need to talk to your physician about this.

At present, instead of febuget, you should take goutnil tablet, which will provide instant relief from pain.
Once the uric acid levels come back to normal values, then you can switch over to febuget.

Anti inflammatory analgesic tablets will help.

Maintain healthy diet, avoid the food that i mentioned earlier.

Meditation and yoga will help.

I hope the answer was useful.

Feel free to ask me any follow up queries that you may have.

Thank you.
Kind regards.

Hello Doctor,
Thanks for your advise. The diabetes medication I am taking for the last one year and BP tablets I am taking for last 7-8 years and my diet also has not changed in recent times but still I am having this frequent attacks for the last 2-3 months. I normally don't take red meat, soda drinks etc. I was taking Telma CT40 for BP, my physician changed it to normal Telma 40. I take alcohol on weekends only. The main problem is that I am not been able to do my cardio exercises. Could you pls tell me the doses of goutnil tablets and how much mg should I take and how many times a day and if there is any side effect of this medication.
Regards, XXXX

Brief Answer:
goutnil dosage

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Initially,Goutnil 0.5 mg tablets are to be taken every 3 hourly till you get relief from the pain or till you get loose motions- (whichever is earlier).

There after you can continue with 1 tablet thrice / twice a day ,depending upon the symptoms and uric acid levels.

Once the levels come within normal range, shift to febuget 80.

Thank you.
