Suggest Treatment For Elevated Levels Of Eosinophil

default
Posted on Mon, 17 Nov 2014
Question: I have had Hashimoto's thyroiditis for three years now and have been trying to control my thyroid since my levels are finally somewhat normal. My eosinophil levels have been elevated since February (8.1) then in August (8.9). Although this thyroid seems to be mildly controlled (although there is still a enlarged parathyroid lymph (right side) and a nodule (11mm left side) I have been still having extreme fatigue amongst other issues. Lately when carrying my daughter's car seat on my left arm I get what looks like blood blisters. And 2 days ago noticed a large bruise that has taken over my entire knee and now a yellow color is going even further out around that along with joint pain (hips knees spine). Is there something I should look further into or could this just be related to hypothyroidism?

Brief Answer:
Easy bruising sign of hypothyroidism

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for contacting HCM

I see you are concerned about your hypothyroidism as a cause of your recent continued fatigue and excessive bruising. With low thyroid your body is not working at full capacity and there are numerous effects of that low metabolism. In this case a low platelet count could occur and cause the bruising and blood blisters you are experiencing. To help improve your platelet counts I recommend stopping any alcohol and any anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen or aspirin. Tylenol is ok.

I would ask you to see your doctor again and have them repeat your TSH, free T4 and T3 levels.

To improve your overall health and improve fatigue I recommend
1. getting plenty of sleep and that means 8-10 hours for most adults
2. avoid alcohol
3. reduce stress try meditation or yoga classes
4. exercise regularly and it can be mild walking 30-60 mins daily everyday.
5. Take your medications everyday at the same time and try to get the same medication and not have the pharmacy switch brands. Or insist on the branded form of levothyroxine.
