Brief Answer:
What prompted D-dimers to be checked?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

D-dimers certainly link up to clotting and deep venous thrombosis. I will suggest that you upload the entire report for review. In addition, tell us why D-dimers were being tested. While these two conditions could co-exist in an individual, they really do not have a causal relationship. Also, has there been any change in your menstrual flow? Is there any disease condition you are being managed for?

I am on birth control and the birth control I am on keeps me from having a menstrual flow. I am not being managed for any disease or condition. I went to the ER with chest pain as I had had bronchitis and an upper respiratory infection and wanted to make sure my lungs were ok. The completed a complete CBC work up as well as a metabolic panel, ferritin workup, Iron test and D-Dimer.
I am not diabetic, I do have fatty liver, but I have never ever been anemic before.

Brief Answer:
THis is more of an incidental finding!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

This is more of an incidental finding and in no way suggests any problem with blood clot. I suggest you stay calm and there is no need to act on this. What is glaring from your exam results is iron deficiency anemia. Follow up on iron tablets and do a control in 2-4weeks.

I wish you well.
