default
Posted on Tue, 16 Feb 2016
Question: My 34 year old daughter, who is a fitness instructor and competes, began symptoms of dizziness and headache with neck pain. Then she developed bruises all over legs and covering one foot, today. No injuries. She fell asleep in the parking lot at the gym for an hour. She is extremely tired all the time.( x1 week+) She has pain that wakes her from sleep when she lifts her head off pillow to turn. No fever, but had been feverish with cold symptoms about a week ago. I tried to get her to go to ED but she says she'll see how she does through the night.

Brief Answer:
Probably viral infection with nervous system involvement.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your query and understand your concerns.

I think your daughter should be presented to ED ( emergency ) because one week with symptoms of viral infection that are worsening could mean that the infection is progressing.

Neck pain and lethargy indicate nervous system involvement, so this is a factor plus about going to ED and being evaluated medically at the earliest .

Please don't wait up any more and take her to ER as soon as possible as when nervous system is involved, the patient's are quite prone for diseases like Encephalitis and Meningitis which just need to be evaluated on priority basis .

Also it is my humble request to you , not to get in the sayings of your daughter as in this kind of ailments(if at all it is), the patient's are often not aware completely of their activities/speech ,so to be on the safer side please get her evaluated at the earliest.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.
