Hello XXXX,

I don't know whether the Zicam spray will work - it is a homeopathic preparation that I am not familiar with. You might call the company's number to ask how quickly it should work.

You can try over the counter steroid nasal spray such as Flonase. It can take a couple of days to work, but it will decrease nasal and sinus swelling.

I wouldn't use it at the same time as the Zicam spray - maybe separate them by a few hours.

How long have you had your sinus symptoms and other than dizziness, what symptoms are you having?

I feel tired an of course it upsets my stomach and I feel the pressure in my head. I have used the Flonase, it helps a little. I also use hot packs on my nose..Guess thats I hope it gets better, which it has before.

When did it start?

Are you blowing out or coughing up any discolored drainage (other than when you first get out of bed)? And do you have fever or chills?

Have you tried saline sprays to wash your sinuses? To do this you stand over the sink, tip your head to the side, and spray or pour saline into the top nostril. Allow this to flow out. Wipe or blow gently (not hard). Repeat on the other side - tipping your head to the other side and spraying/pouring the saline in the other nostril. You can buy prepared saline such as Simply Saline at a drugstore.

If you don't have high blood pressure or take blood pressure pills, you can try a decongestant such as pseudoephedrine. This doesn't require a prescription, but it does require that you asked the pharmacist for it as it isn't kept on the regular shelves at drugstores.

If your secretions are very thick, you can take guaifenesin, which is a mucolytic. To get it to work well, drink lots of water (at least 1-2 8 oz glasses).
