Question: Dear Doctor, My 5 Yr old Son has be digonised for bowel loops of sizes 6-7mm.
What does it mean

Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
Dilated bowel loops of that size( moderate) indicates usually infection.
But sometimes this might increase in a few days.
It is better to treat with antibiotics as recommended by your doctor.
You need to get repeat ultrasound to see if this has settled or worsened.
Do get the tests done as recommended.
