Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea After Colonoscopy Procedure

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Jan 2017
Question: I have bowel issues and have a colonoscopy on Tuesday but would prefer not to. I went to a new doctor and feel he suggested the colonoscopy hastily since I have never had these problems before. Below is what I sent about 10 days ago.

I have not a regular bowel moment for 8 days. It started with diarrhea the first day and every day sense i really haven't had a real BM but just very small strange looking droppings that look like undigested food kind of bound together and sluff like. I suspect it could be because of one of two things or maybe both. About a month ago I started masturbating anal with a dildo. I am 48 and have never been able to find my prostate so I started doing that and have been at it almost daily. The other thing that is different in my life is that my brother /best friend has stage four cirrhosis of the liver and I took him to the hospital 3 weeks ago he was almost dead. And several other family crisis at the same time. Plus I have a couple hundred employees and so much stress right now. Do you think one of these issues could cause IBS? Also I have been on a lot of antibiotics because I have strep and haven't been able to kick it.

Below is the most current condition
A few days after I sent the above text i had one large completly normal bowel movement and a couple more medium and small ones almost normal the same day. The past week I have not had and cramping or discomfort but am not having mush bm at all when I do they are very small but normal texture.
Any suggestions?

Brief Answer:
hold the colonoscopy

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I can understand your concern for your symptom.
1) Not passing stool since 8 days itself is considered as severe constipation and it require aggressive treatment in form of enema (if required) to prevent bowel obstruction.
2) If you are experiencing such level of constipation repeatedly then defiantly it require evaluation to find exact cause for it so that appropriate treatment can be started in stead of providing just symptomatic treatment.
3) If this happened just first time and you passed stool without any treatment then it might be secondary to indigestion.
4) In this case, you should take stool softener or laxative to keep stool consistency soft which helps to defecate. About colonoscopy, you should hold it as your symptoms are improving and it was just first time.
