Question: I inherited a mild nervous disorder. I have panic attacks and high blood pressure. Both conditions have been regulated through hypertension medication and paroxitene 5mg. daily (paxil) @ 25 years. I am now 66 years old and have functioned very well as an attorney, elementary school teacher and a federal government regulation analyst for over 40 years. I have raised my grandchild for 21 years My recent visit to a pa resulted in a referral to a Mental Health clinic before prescribing a paxil refill. Now I have headaches, insomnia and a high blood pressure spike that is scary. Why is this necessary ? A mental health record may mare my credibility and my grandchild's future security. How do I obtain refills without a mental health
record?

Brief Answer:
Depression-Anxiety

Detailed Answer:
Hello.Delighted to be able to help.
The Paroxetine dose that you are taking is very low.
I think it is not necessary referral to Mental Health to treat your current symptoms.
When a person has a mild anxiety-depressive disorder, usually the Primary Care Physician prescribe the drugs and the patient is referred to Mental Health if symptoms do not improve in 6-7 weeks.
In my opinion Paroxetine 20 mg per day(10 mg the first week)+Alprazolam 0,5 mg at night(to treat insomnia) can be taken for treating your condition.
Please consult your doctor for a prescription.
I Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be happy to help.If you do not have any clarifications, please don’t forget to evaluate my answer.I wish you good health.
