Suggest Treatment For Cough, Cold And Viral Fever In A Child

default
Posted on Tue, 25 Oct 2016
Question: My daughter is 3 years old and during the last 3 months, she was continuously getting viral fever, followed with cough and cold. She suffers with very bad cough which tends to end up vomiting all the food she had during the dinner. After one week or two weeks of medication which includes antibiotic then the illness gets reduced. I am not able to understand why she is suffering this medical issue at 3 years of age ? Is it because of her immunity is not sufficient enough to face the outside atmosphere or pollution leading to all these illness ? Kindly advise.

Hello Doctor,

Her weight is 12 kg. When she was around 9 months old, she got a fever and from that time onwards she didn't gain weight at all. she looks so thin. Kindly advise how do we gain weight for her.

She eats vegetables, orange and drinks Junior Horlicks. She suffers with the constipation problem because of her posture while passing the stool. She directly sits on the floor and trying to push the stool without lifting her back.

We have tried a lot to change her habit but still we couldn't succeed. And this has lead to sever constipation.

With Thanks,
XXXX

Supplements

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing back.

Sorry for the delay in my response,

The reason for frequent infections could be many, one most important and modifiable is diet.

I would recommend you to give her fiber rich fruits like banana and papaya every night.

Multivitamin supplements like Syp ZINCOVIT 5 ml thrice daily for a month. This will increase her appetite if given before food.

Protein supplement like Pediasure.

The above can take some time to bring health in line but they are very effective.

Hope, I answered your query.

Wish you good health.

Regards,
