Hi,
Thank you for your query.
1. There has been a recent spate of patients with a viral fever accompanied by a persistent cough that lasts for week.
2. I would recommend a cough mixture for dry cough, such as Ascoril-D or Reswas. These will require a prescription.
3. Medicated gargles, lozenges , steam inhalation and honey based mixtures to soothe the throat will help.
4. Get a check-up and blood test to rule out eosinophilia, flu, malaria, dengue and bacterial infections. Any sputum can be sent for culture. A chest physician reference is recommended if the cough persists for more than 2-3 weeks to rule out bronchitis.
I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.
Regards.
