default
Posted on Mon, 21 Sep 2015
Question: I have been having constipation and very dark green stool. My stool consistency have been very hard and beady like large version of goat's. I also have indigetion and acid reflux. I would like to know the possible reasons for these symptoms. I had colonoscopy and gastric endoscopy done in January this year. I was told that I don't have polyps and my stomach was OK. Tank you.
I don't have any.

Brief Answer:
Bad diet is the most common reason.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

The most common reason of such symptoms is bad diet (low fiber intake). Other possible reasons are hypothyroidism, chronic bacterial infection or medicines (hypertension mostly). Lack of physical activity has also some impact to stool passage.

I suggest you to add fiber and probiotic to your diet as the first step. Increase mineral water intake and start some physical activity if thats possible.
If this wont help, please consult your doctor, have blood work (thyroid tests) and stool test.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
