Question: I have been having severe hip pain & cramping for four years & now have an intermittent rash on the outer hip. I have also got pain behind my right ear & permanent hearing loss of "an unusual pattern according to the audiologist. I get bad shooting pains in the bone area behind the affected ear & also have developed high BP. Any ideas for all this? Are the conditions related?

Brief Answer:
Please upload the audiogram report

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query. Your low hip pain could be due to spondylosis or could be due to muscle spasm, thus causing the pain. Hot compress should provide relief. The vicious cycle of pain and spasm needs to be broken and I would insist you to take paracetamol or acetaminophen 500 mg two tablets together twice or thrice daily for next 3 days. This should ease the problem and make it go away. If it does not, I would insist you to get a X Ray of both hips and lumbosacral spine (AP and lateral) done and to see a physical therapist with the reports. Based on the findings he would be able to demonstrate to you proper exercises that should provide relief.

Regarding the unusual pattern of hearing loss, I would insist you to upload an image of the audiogram report. It will enable me to guide you further.

Please upload an image of the rashes as well.

The high BP need to be treated with regular medication and salt restriction. Apart from the contribution that any pain can have on elevation of the blood pressure, I do not think that the conditions are related.

Feel free to write back.
