Suggest Treatment For Chronic Fatigue

default
Posted on Mon, 11 Jul 2016
Question: Dr. Naval Mendiratta, I should get my gene testing results on Tuesday, May 31st when I go to the hospital for group therapy. You mentioned that medicine can help with 60% of the problem. I"m not sure what that means but I know this: I'm getting 0% help from medicine since I've had this problem. I can't do this by myself. I need that 60% help. I became a grandpa last week but I don't feel well enough to go see him. As you know this never lets up. My children don't completely understand but I can't help that. XXXXXXX

Dr. Mendiratta, your suggestion of going to see my grandson is valid but sometimes there is no one available to pick me up and take me there. I am temporarily living in a group home and I have no car. It is very in convenient at the moment after driving for almost 50 years. I have sent my daughter and son in law steaks through the mail as a gift for their first baby. One thing that I've never mentioned is that a neurologist prescribed midodrine for my light- headedness and dizziness two years ago. I feel this way when I walk. This has not been effective. I'm thinking that it has to do with my fatigue problem. My blood pressure is ok. What do you think about this? XXXXXXX

Gene Testing

Detailed Answer:
Good evening XXXXXXX

I was hoping the gene results would be out by now...So I had delayed the reply...Thought will get it all together in one reply

Midodrine is mainly used for orthostatic hypotension...That is a fall in blood pressure when you suddenly sit up from lying down or walk after lying down. It is normally not useful unless you have the orthostatic hypotension. I attribute it more to your fatigue levels. Never the less, you can get your blood pressure checked on standing and lying down if there is any significant difference..

I hope the results are out and we have something to work on

DO update me

Dr. Mendiratta-I hesitated to write because the results HAVE NOT COME IN ALL WEEK. My next hope is Monday. The wait is agonizing because I feel so bad that even you can't imagine. I don't have a quality of life. If I was in your country, I would be on some medication that may help by now. I'm tired of forcing myself to put one foot in front of the other and keep going. If I were in the hospital, people would believe that there's something wrong with me. I hope that your week has gone well. I will write next week. XXXXXXX Thanks for understanding.

Good evening XXXXXXX

I was looking forward to your results...But there has been quite a delay. I can understand the agony and irritation which comes along. Well, we can wait for a couple of days more time. If it still doesnt show anything, I would suggest you go to ER and get admitted. At times, admission does help the due course as lot of people look into the case and form a combined opinion. PAthological or not, it will get sorted out. I hope you are being covered for that part.

Yeah my week has been ok..Stressful with all the work, duties and traffic...and no sunday off as well.. So you can imagine...

Do update me

hi Dr. Mendiratta, the results HAVE NOT COME BACK YET but the nurse said that it takes that long for this test. I am feeling very bad but maybe I will get them on Thursday. She will give me a copy of the results. I can barely function during the day. The medical doctor said that he has little experience with gene testing but it will tell me, based on my receptors, which meds my body can utilize best. There are some medications that my body would not respond to. Hope you are doing well. XXXXXXX

hi Dr. Mendiratta, the nurse called me at home this morning and located my test results from ONE MONTH AGO. I will see them when I go to the hospital for group therapy on Monday. I will get a copy of the results. I will write you on Monday evening with the findings. I hope that I can get some relief soon. There is a woman in my Thursday class who has a similar condition. She understands what I am experiencing, but she has pain involved. Have a nice weekend. XXXXXXX

hi Dr. Mendiratta, I have SEVEN PAGES of GENETIC TESTING results and I understand very little of it. Is there some way I could fax the results to you so you could see them? The first three pages have columns as GENE RESULT, THERAPEUTIC IMPLICATIONS, INTERACTION, and CLINICAL IMPACT.The next page has ANTIDEPRESSANTS and/or PSYCHOTROPIC medications with THERAPEUTIC OPTIONS. The next page has PAIN medications. The last page has test methodology and a list of genes. Sorry I can't explain this any better but I have to wait til the psychiatrist/MD explains it to me. Is there some way that I can get these to you? XXXXXXX You said babysit---are you a dad??

Dr. Mendiratta, it looked like you sent me a response when I wrote you about my gene testing results but I wasn't able to pull it up on my computer. Did you get my message? If not I'll be happy to write another message. If you received it, please send me another response. Thank you, XXXXXXX

hi Dr. Mendiratta, do I send the documents to HealthcareMagic.com along with a message? Do I write your name and title on a cover sheet? I think they can help me do this at the hospital. Unfortunately I haven't seen the doctor yet. It depends on when he shows up at the hospital which is very inconvenient for the patient. Yes, I do know someone who understands me. She's had fibromyalgia for 8 years. For me the pain would be debilitating. I hope you get a father's day card on Sunday. I've got 1 boy and 2 girls. XXXXXXX
