Question: I was diagnosed with cellulitis there is not a wound or abscess but under my skin there is a large hard area that is very painful. I believe I got the cellulitis from an im b12 shot. Is this normal for cellulitis

It was on my right upper buttock area 2ml and I have received them every 2 weeks previously. This is where the cellulitis is. The overlying skin had redness and warm to touch was about 18cm x 4cm but has shrunk down to 9x4cm. It is still very painful to touch or sit on. It hurts the worse where the hardened area is. I've had fevers but since starting antibiotics they are low grade 99.7f. No previous medical problems

Brief Answer:
Recovering cellulitis.need basic evaluations for better recovery management

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the details .

* This is not normal for every B 12 shot , but unfortunately you got the cellulitis
post injection .

* I strongly recommend to

- Get an ultrasound examination of the local part to rule out underlying presence
of pus and if any then amount of the same .
- Laboratory test including complete blood counts and fasting blood sugar .
- As size has decreased from previous one , continue antibiotics & other
medicines as per your doctor`s advise .
- Ice application 5 minutes each session every 6 - 8 hourly would help better .
- Avoid sitting prolong on hard surfaces , long drives .
- Keep the part clean with antiseptic liquids .

Hope this will help you .
Welcome for further assistance .
Wishing you fine recovery .
Regards .
