default
Posted on Sat, 15 Nov 2014
Question: I have calcific tendinopathy of the subscapularis (13mm and 98mm Calcific foci) and small joint effusion. I have exercises and been to massage and acupuncture, none of which has relieved the pain or improved movement. What sort of treatment could you recommend?

Brief Answer:
Ask your doctor about the possibility of surgery!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this calcific tendinopathy that you have been battling with. It seems physical therapy has failed to resolve the pain and increase the range of motion of this joint. These foci are relatively big enough and should be accessible for surgical removal. I will suggest that you ask your doctor whether he would consider you for this as medical and conservative treatments seem not to be doing any major good right now.

For now, I will recommend that you follow up with the doctor and get god pain mediations while they figure out what the exact permanent treatment option they would consider in your case. I will strongly recommend surgery unless they think otherwise and propose better to do solutions.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
