Suggest Treatment For Burning Sensation In The Thighs

default
Posted on Thu, 31 Aug 2017
Question: I have had this burning sensation (like a bad sunburn) on my back upper thigh and inner thigh for 2 weeks now - no rash or redness. I went to the Dr and she put me on Valacyclovir 1GM three times a day. Also been taking Aleve. I tried Capzasin Cream and almost went thru the ceiling with the pain it caused. The pain is about the same - but no blistering or rash. Now I am feeling it in the other leg - more up on the buttocks. Dr thought Shingles - but not sure and not going away. More uncomfortable at night.

Brief Answer:
Oral pregabalin might prove effective

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us.

I am Dr. Kakkar (Dermatologist).
I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern.
The character of pain (burning quality) suggests that it is probably originating in nerve. Though rare but pain of shingles can occur without typical dermatomal vesicular rash i.e zoster sine herpete. I suggest that you to take oral pregabalin 75-150mg, twice daily preferably in combination with oral methylcobalamine. This is a prescription drug and you may take it after consulting with your doctor.

Regards
