Question: Hi Dr Rynne, I have a question regarding STD's. I recently had oral and unprotected vaginal sex with a woman. 4 days after that, i had unprotected oral sex with my wife. She is currently experiencing some burning urinating, which may be related to another condition she has, but nothing beyond that. I have no symptoms of any kind. Is it possible that i have infected her with gonorrhea, or chlamydia via cunninglingus?

Brief Answer:
Unlikely since you have no symptoms. I will like that she gets tested!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this burning your wife has during urination. This is typically suggestive of urinary tract infection and not an STD. However, given the fact that you had recent unprotected sex, It would be nice for her to get fully tested to make sure there is nothing serious beyond a urinary tract infection that needs to be addressed.

Urinary tract infections needs testing for confirmation and antibiotics for treatment. These can be obtained by visiting your primary care doctor. Antibiotics treatment usually last 3-5days and all is returns to normal. With STD tests already being done, you are on the right path.

Pleas, protect your wife and family. If you must have an affair, please use protection at all cost. It helps protect you and your entire family, especially your very loved wife from sexually transmitted infections.

I hope this helps. I wish your wife well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
