Suggest Treatment For Bumps On Head Of Penis

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Mar 2015
Question: Hello, I have these bumps all around the head of my penis and I am wondering what they are. They have been there for 3-4 years now. I am thinking they are pearly penile papules but I want to be sure. I have a few on the bottom of my shaft right below the head as well but they don't look like the others.

Also, The opening of my urethra is red and feels tingly from time to time. just under 6 weeks ago, I received a fellatio with a condom on from a CSW. I do not know if she had oral herpes or not, but she had no visible symptoms that I could see. I don't think there was any skin to skin and it was VERY brief. under a minute total. I don't have any other symptoms. The left part of the very tip of my penis looks to be raised up higher than the right and I am unsure if this is normal. any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

nothing to worry about.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I read carefully your query and gone through the pictures you send.

Everything looks normal. The small bumps around penis head are called pearly penile papules and are considered a normal finding and are not related to any medical condition .They are completely benign and you have nothing to worry about.

Regarding the sexual encounter you had 6 weeks ago,if you used a condom ,it is very unlikely that she has transmitted you an STD like herpes.

The opening of your urethra might be slightly red and the tingling at the tip of the urethra might be due to some causes.
Most likely it is caused from irritation (close-fitting underwear or detergents , irritation from masturbation or sexual intercourse).
Sometimes the cause might be an urinary tract infection or a fungal infection but in this case the symptoms would be persistent and not time to time.

I would suggest :
-Keep a good hygiene on your genital area
-Wear loose underwear and cotton ones.
-Wash the area with warm water several time a day.
-If this sensation persist you may need to run an urinalysis to exclude any urinary tract infection.
You may need to try an antifungal cream and see if it helps.

To answer your last question ,the tip of your penis look completely normal. There is nothing to worry about it.

Hope it helps.
Let me know if you need further help.

Kind regards,
Dr.Rovena Murati

Thank you very much! I was wondering if the penis is supposed to be completely symettrical, especially at the tip. I would assume that the symptoms of an STD would be persistent as well, not to mention for than just a feeling at the tip of my penis.

What I am really wondering is if there is a time that I can have an HSV2 test done to completely conclude that I haven't contracted the virus. Thank you again for your help!

Hi again.

Well, the human body is not perfect and nothing is 100% symmetric.
From the pictures, your penis looks completely normal and enough symmetrical. You have nothing to worry about.

The tests for Genital herpes (HSV2 ) are tests that detects antibodies against the virus in blood. The most accurate test is the test that detect antibodies IgG in blood. The body need some time after the infection to develop these antibodies. This period of time is different in every person and may go from few weeks to few months.
For the most accurate test result, it is recommended to wait 12 -16 weeks from the last possible date of exposure before getting an accurate, type-specific blood test in order to allow enough time for antibodies to reach detectable levels.

Hope this helps.
Wish you all the best.

It does. I had a test after 9 days and the results for less than 0.91. I think I am just freaking out. I read that extreme stresss and alcohol consumption will surely trigger and out break. I can assure you that I have had both. My hands shake and I can't sleep at all. I use alcohol to sleep. I know it isn't good but Im sure with those two, I would have had an outbreak by now. Especially 6 weeks out.

Hello !

I really apologize for the delay in answering your follow-up query.

A test 9 days after the exposure is not accurate because as I said antibodies need some time to form. You should wait at least 6 weeks for the test to be more accurate.
If you used a condom and the time of contact was very short ,you don't have any reason to think you got infected with herpes.
Since you don't have any symptoms at all,try not to think about it and continue with your life.
It is possible to be infected with HSV2 and don't have any symptom of herpes even years after the infection.
Another thing is that if the test result positive ,you can't know for sure where the infection happened, if happened in this exposure or time before .
If you don't have symptom of herpes breakout ,you shouldn't get obsessed and worry about it.
You can wait few weeks more and then run another test for HSV2.This just to put your mind at rest and continue with your life.

Hope it helps.

Take care,
Dr.Rovena

HI. What is safe to put on the very tip of my penis? I have bactroban. Neosporin and VasilIne. I don't know what will happen because it is right on the opening of the urethra?

Brief Answer:

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

These topical antibacterial drugs (neosporin and bactroban) are considered safe to use but is individuals sensitive to these drugs ,they can make the irritation worse. It doesn't seem to be a bacterial infection so these creams won't help much.

I would suggest Vaseline ,it is safe and can minimize the friction of the tip of penis with underwear.
The cause of the irritation on the tip of urethra might be :
-Friction due to close-fit underwear or due to sexual intercourse
-An urinary tract infection
-A fungal infection.

I would suggest to drink plenty of water for some days and see if the symptoms improve. If not you may run an urinalysis to exclude an urinary tract infection.
Wash the area with warm water, avoid soaps or other products ,because can make the irritation worse.
Wear loose cotton underwear.
If the symptoms don't improve you may need a mild steroid cream like betamethasone twice a day for 5 days.If the symptoms persist ,the cause might be an fungal infection. In this case you need and antifungal cream like clotrimazole 1% twice a day for 1-2 weeks (until the symptoms resolve).

Hope it helps.
Take care,

Dr.Rovena

Hi. New question. Can anything be passed through a hand job?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Dr. Rovena (14 hours later)
Brief Answer:
very unlikely

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

I apologize for the delay in answering your query.

It is very unlikely to transmit a sexual transmitted infection through hand job and this because to transmit an infection there should be fluid exchanges. In you case the mucosa of your penis should have contacted with her body fluids.
If this didn't happen, then there is no way she could have transmitted an infection to you.

Hope it helps.
Let me know if you need further help.

Take care,
Dr.Rovena

Detailed Answer:
Hello there,

From the description there was no fluid exchange between you (means you had no contact with her body fluids) so the risk of getting an sexually transmitted disease is insignificant.

Try to relax and don't think more about it.Your symptoms don't indicate any transmitted infection so you don't have any reason to think about STD.

Take care.
