Question: While asleep I start to breath through my mouth. This dries out the inside of my mouth where it becomes somewhat painful/uncomfortable. So much so that it wakes me up. I take some water and I'm okay. BUT - this wakes me up every 2 hours so that my sleep is disturbed. And advice?

Brief Answer:
A visit to an ORL doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I understand your concern. Our bodies are not designed to rely exclusively on mouth breathing. You did not mention why you switch to mouth breathing when sleeping.
Is there any problems with your nose? Stuffy, runny nose? A seasonal cold or allergy? Or is this a problem you've had for a long time? Do you snore?
I recommend you see an ORL doctor (mouth-nose-throat) to have your mouth and nose checked.
Mouth breathing can seriously affect sleep and consequently your quality of life.
I hope this helps.
If you have any further questions I'd be glad to answer.
Wishing you all the best
