Suggest Treatment For Blood In Stool, Stomach Pain And GERD
Question: Hello, I have been having blood in my stool. Fresh blood. I have had this in the past and saw a gi doctor, they did an upper gi and said it was just Gerd. But now the blood in stool is back. I also have a burning pain in my stomach, especially after eating. I can't get in to see gi Doctor for another month, is this something that can wait that long or should I go to an ER? I am an RN and know this is not normal. I am very worried.

I read carefully all your concerns and I can say as follows :
1.You are reporting to have fresh blood in your stools . This finding usually is related with hemorrhoids or anal fissure due to constipation.
This is why I strongly suggest to use preparation H.
Meantime I suggest to :
-take plenty of water
- use olive oil
- keep a good hygiene to anal area
- use vegetables and fresh fruits reached in fibers.
Otherwise if your symptoms will agravate than you should go to ER.
2. With regards to your symptoms like stomach pain and burning especially after eating are explained by GERD ( acid reflux ).
To improve your acid reflux symptoms I would suggest to :
- use PPI'S like prilosec otc
- use antacid like Gavicson
- use two pillow when you lay down
- avoid spicy and chilly foods
- eat 3-4 hour before go to bed
- increase physical activity

OK. When i do have a bowel movement it hurts sometimes and sometimes i also have sharp stomach pains while having a BM. Is that still hemmorroids or fissures you think?
