Suggest Treatment For Blood In Semen
Question: I've noticed blood in my semen, usually it looks like droplets, for a few weeks. Recently I had a colonoscopy, about 2 months ago. However, I've had lower back pain also, but that may be related to a ruptured disc I had repaired a few years ago. Is it possible that I've reinjured the disc, and that it's pressing on something to cause the blood? I've had no blood in my urine.

Blood in the semen is called hematospermia. It is common in men under 40 years of age and is benign and of no significance. It can be concerning to see it but really in younger men it is common and of no concern. In older men it is also usually benign but rarely can be associated with cancer. If you are very concerned see your doctor for an exam but as long as you have no other symptoms like lumps in your penis or testicles or enlarged lymph nodes in the groin then you can ignore it. So my previous back surgery, lower abdominal pain and previous history of kidney stones are not related to this?

The back surgery is probably not related. The lower abdominal pain could be from many causes but is unlikely to be the cause of blood in your semen. If you have an active kidney stone with bleeding and pain this could cause your abdominal pain and some blood in the urethra that comes out with the semen but this too is not that likely and would not be the case unless you were having active kidney stones.
Again if you are concerned see your doctor or a urologist for a follow up, especially if you think your abdominal pain is from a kidney stone.

Ok. The first time this happened or I noticed it, was when I was laying on my back. When I wake up laying on my back I usually have back pain. I just thought it was strange that this didn't happen until I ejaculated from that position.
