default
Posted on Tue, 14 Jul 2015
Question: In March 2012 treated for bleeding ulcer and put on Pantoprazole 40MG daily. Over the last few months I have developed numbness and tingling sensation in my feet. the tingling sensation goes away within 30 min to 45 min. The numbness in my foot is most intensive when I wake up in the morning then intermittent throughout the day. Should I try taking Vitamin B12 supplement. I already take one-a-day 50+ for men.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Welcome to HCM.
This is Dr. Swarnava Dattagupta answering your query.

I have gone through your query and understand your concern.
You are having tingling and numbness and there can be various causes of this kind of neuropathy. If such a patient comes to me, I advise them to stop taking alcohol or smoking if any. Also a blood sugar test is advised to rule out diabetic neuropathy. Vitamin deficiency can also be a cause hence I advise multivitamin supplement. Also a combination of pregabalin and mecobalamin once daily for a month seems to be very effective.
You are already taking multivitamins. Hence you can follow the other advises after consulting your treating or family doctor and get a prescription done.

Hope this was useful.
Regards.
