Brief Answer:
liver function, full blood count

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

If the dentist ruled out gingivitis (inflammation of the gums) then liver function tests would be appropriate.
Gingivitis can be related to care of the teeth and gums but may also be related to any factor that affects the immune system such as diabetes, side effect of medication (eg oral steroids for asthma).

The liver is responsible for production of a number of clotting factors and if there is poor function of the liver then it is possible bleeding can occur.

In addition to the liver function tests, you can consider a full blood count to look at the platelet level.
Low platelets can also cause bleeding to occur.

Smoking can also cause an bleeding gums.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
