Posted on Mon, 20 Apr 2015
Question: Hello, Hope this finds you well,
I have eczema all over my body sometimes they bleed sometimes not depending if i scratch them a lot.

1 month ago a guy ejaculated and directly put his cum on my back, i did not know if i had bleeding eczema wounds at that time of incident. i knew right after that this guy was hiv +, i rushed to the emergency and insisted on taking the PEP(post exposure treatment) even though i was told by the doc that my risk is very low and usually hiv does not get contracted like this. after 1 month which is today i have a swollen gland on my neck and i feel my neck and throat are heavy but i have NO other symptoms. i am really really worried and scared, i cant go on with my life normally due to fear can u please help and tell me what to do. maybe i contracted the virus and pep treatment didnt work?

Brief Answer:
HIV transmission unlikely.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for query.
I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
Welcome to health care magic.

I have gone through the details and can make out your anxiety.

The risk of transmission of HIV by the mode described is least . If there were no open/ bleeding wound the chances are nil.
Skin is an effective barrier.
PEP can prevent transmission of HIV if taken within 72 hours of exposure.
Anyway you can go for HIV tests at this time to relieve your anxiety irrespective of PEP.
You can go for HIV1&2 RNA PCR and/or HIV combo test (detects both antigen and antibody)at this stage.
The symptoms are not specific to HIV.it can be due to any respiratory infection.
You can get back for any clarification.
Thank you

Thanks for the reply Doctor.

If the eczema on my back where he put the semen was open and bleeding because a lot of the time my eczema bleeds, is this a high risk ? i heard there must be a lot of blood and the wound has to be very open for transmission to happen?

Brief Answer:
Eczema least risk.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for follow up query.

The chances of eczema causing bleeding is less. They are pin point bleeding and do heal fast too. There will be crusting too.The chances of transmission is least.

For HIV transmission there need not be full bleeding, there needs to be place of entry like open wound ,abrasion ,ulcer.
You can get back for any clarification else please close the discussion and rate.

Hi

It is better you get tested as it is human tendency to keep pondering over it again and again.
