Suggest Treatment For Black Spot On Inner Jaws

default
Posted on Fri, 27 Feb 2015
Question: My father is 79 years old. In the last day or so he has developed a small round black spot inside of his mouth on the inner jaw below the gum line. It doesn't hurt but is black and seems to be inside the lower jaw right below his lower teeth gum area. Any ideas what this could be? He just noticed it and when his tongue runs over it he can feel it.
Thank you,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Echchymosis, physiologic pigmentation

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query. the images are not clear, can you upload high resolution images so I can help you better.

As per your descriptions The round black dots over the gums are concerned I have two possibilities.
It can be because of the normal physiologic pigmentation.
The other possible cause can be a echchymosis or petichiae secondary to trauma to gums.
If it is a pechchymosis it wll come down in a week. If it is a physiologic pigmentation, then no need to worry or no need of any treatment.
Nothing to be panic, consult a oral physician and get it evaluated.
These are the possible causes and diagnosis based on the description of the lesion.
I hope my answer will help you. Take care.
