Brief Answer:
Keratosis pilaris or follicular keratosis: various suggestion and guidance.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome again to the forum and thanks for posting the pictures.

After analyzing your pictures thoroughly it appears to be Keratosis pilaris also known as follicular keratosis.

To tell you simply regarding this condition: It is a common condition affecting hair root and is clinically seen as red and rough bumps on the skin along with pigmentation. These are basically present on of back and outer sides of the arm and even forearms and thigh area.

This is caused by the blockage of the pores by the hard plug known as keratin.

I reassure you first that these are very commonly in seen especially in adolescent and young people. This is more common in females than in males.

There are certain suggestions for the prevention of this condition:

- Do not pinch, pop or scratch or even touch the area unnecessarily as it can cause aggravation of the rash.

-Wear cotton clothes and cotton inner garments which will give a soothing feeling to the skin and prevent the further formation.

- Stay away from extreme of environment such heat and humidity.

If I were your treating dermatologist then would have prescribed you creams containing keratolytic agents such as salicylic acid and topical retinoids under medical advice. Moisturization also helps in reducing them well.

For the part of pigmentation I would have prescribed you skin lightening agents such as Kojic acid or azelaic acid cream application which you can use under personal dermatological guidance.

Hope this information will help you.

All the best.
