Question: I m 23 years old female..Day before yesterday in the evening i slipped and fell at home and hurt my head with the floor tiles , the point of impact was just next to my left eye. i called a doctor immediately and applied ice pack. i had blurred vision for a while and had quite big swelling in the eye area and towards the left side of my forehead. I took combiflam immediately and have been taking chymoral forte 4 tablets a day as given by the doctor then till today. the swelling has reduced considerably . i got skull xray done which was normal. i had blurred vision for 5 minutes after i got hurt but no vomiting or nausea. but still i got brain CT scan done for precaution yesterday evening and everything is normal in the report just that it says scalp swelling seen in the left supraorbital region which i think is because the wound was swollen till yest. i didnt have any bleeding. now the swelling has subsided a lot.. its still there though but my left eye has become completely dark purplish black in color. i m worried about how long it will take for my eye to become its normal appearance again , my wedding is scheduled to take place in XXXXXXX I phoned my doctor today and he told me that it may take upto 1 year for the black purple marks to go away. but i read on the internet it heals in 2 weeks generally. I have been taking all precautions. applying ice pack and moist heat from today onwards too. the physician advised me to apply melted boroline to my eye . i would like to know how long will it take for this blackness to go away and my eye to look absolutely normal again..

Brief Answer: It will resolve in 3-4 weeks. Detailed Answer: Hello Welcome to Health care magic Iam Dr. DADAPEER K, an ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye. I went through the history and it seems you are having black eye because of impact of the injury. Since you have taken X- ray, CT scan and all are normal there is no need to worry. The treatment you are on in the form of combiflam, chymoral forte and cold compression is in right direction and there is no need to worry. Black eye is because of collection of blood in the layers of the skin and it will get resolved slowly as the blood gets absorbed. Normally it takes about 3-4 weeks for complete resolution if it is small it may resolve in 1-2 weeks. I understand your concern as you have got wedding in XXXXXXX still there is 6 weeks time, by this time it will resolve and the eyes will appear normally. Hope I have answered your question and the information is helpful to you. Thank you
