Question: I have bad body odor and bad breath which is contagious. I am saying contagious because my wife and kids are having it from me. My doctor could not help saying there is no way of testing it. I need to know what kind of medical treatment is available.

Bad breath can be contagious if you have developed fungal infection. I treat such cases with a combination of oral and topical antifungal medication. Clotrimazole powder to be applied twice daily can help. If this does not work Oral fluconazole 150 mg per week for 4 weeks can be tried. Try this after consultation with doctor as it can have side effects.

Another common cause of bad odour from body is due to food products with strong smell. Try to avoid food with garlic and other products with strong smell. Among lifestyle take hygienic food and cleaner drinking water.

Evaluation by an ENT specialist for bad breath can also be helpful.
