Suggest Treatment For Backache With Hip And Shoulder Pain

default
Posted on Mon, 5 Oct 2015
Question: I have days of exhaustion. My hip and shoulder joints feel "tired" and achy. I also have the same pain across the middle of my back, at about bra level. Most days, I'm tired but some days I am so achy and tired that I trip to the grocery is a huge effort. I have been diagnoses with CFS, but that seems to be a throw away diagnosis with no treatment. Will what I have ever resolve itself?
Is there something else I should be doing or taking? I take acetominophen and am having acupuncture. another symptom I think is insomnia. I stay asleep, but have trouble falling asleep. If I got out of bed every time it took me more than 15 minutes to fall asleep, I'd never get any sleep. It usually takes 1 -2 hours to fall asleep.

Brief Answer:
CFS is very unlikely. Additional investigative work up is warranted.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Madam.

I understand your concern.

This possibly does not look like CFS to me.

Your health issues have to be dealt under 2 sets.

A possible Osteoarthritis and spinal disc disease seem to a current possibility considering your backache with hip and shoulder pain.

For confirmation, I advise you to get MRI of the total spine and X-RAY (ap and lateral views) of both shoulder and hip joints-Bilateral views. This will throw light on joint pathology if any.

Considering symptoms like exhaustion and sleep onset difficulty, the possibility of Anemia and thyroid disorder has to be ruled out.

For this, I advise you to get the following work up.

1.CBC and differential count.
2.Complete thyroid profile.
3.Complete Ultrasound examination of the abdomen.

Further management is based on test results.

Additionally I would like to know the dose of Lexapro you are taking and why was potassium prescribed to you? and how much?

Please provide the above info.
Thank you.
