Suggest Treatment For Back Spasms And Inability To Walk After Falling

default
Posted on Fri, 24 Oct 2014
Question: I was just reading about the mother who had multiple falls and is now unable to walk. My situation is similar , except I am 63 years young, was very active. I retired in 2005 to have complete right hip replacement, in 2011 that implant failed and I had revision surgery in 12/5/11. I fell in May 2012, hard onto the kitchen floor. My eye glasses cut my face was serviced in the ER. I fell a 2nd time on 10/26/12, fractured my left shoulder, was serviced in ER. By thanksgiving I started feeing nervous and shaky and jump at any noise .
, I also have painful and overwhelming back spasms , sometimes I have to hold onto something to keep from falling. I've fallen about 9 times. I am easily frightened. I was prescribed Xanax 0.25mg because of the panic which helped. I am also prescribed diazepam. 5mg which help very little. I cannot walk. I use a walker but scoot my feet. It is so embarrassing but I don' want to use a transporter chair yet. Note: when my hip implant failed my right lower back was damage, so I have no "trunk" strength for lifting my upper body from a sitting or laying Dow position. This trauma has taken over and the therapist and psychiatrist or PCP don't know what to do. I've seen neurologist and have had an MRI for the entire back, hip, pelvic, and brain. I will have steroid back injects later this month. I need some serious PTSD help, and can't find in North Calif.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for posting
I have gone through your query carefully and understand your concern.MY suggestion would be-
1.Regular whole body exercises that may be done in bed if not possible on standing.
2.Visit to a neurologist to rule out Parkinson's
3.Meditation like yoga also helps.
4.Have balance diet.
5.Osteoporosis that is severe bone weakness may be treated by fosamax (drug alendronate).
Above all be positive and have self confidence that you can improve health from the present situation. You may continue with the same medication.
Unfortunately, I do not have any knowledge regarding PTSD specialist in north California.
Hope this helps.I shall be glad to answer any further query.
Regards
