Question: My mother, who is 79, is currently on the drug Promacta (smallest dosage) and has been for 18 months for ITP. She is now experiencing trembling, high anxiety, nervousness, muscle weakness, and comprehension issues along with some short term memory problems. The platelets are not dropping, they are staying normal while on this drug. Could these problems be related to his drug?

Brief Answer:
Need to look for other causes too

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

Promacta is a good drug for ITP. It is known to cause neurological problems like tingling sensation, depression, anxiety, etc.

But going by her range of symptoms, it may be too much to be explained by the drug alone. So we should rule out any other neurological problems.

I would recommend a neurologist consult and if required, brain imaging.

Hope this helps.
Regards
