Question: Hi, this is a little bit embarrasing but i dont want to take any risks.. literally 10 minutes ago i went to the washroom to poop and i wiped a little bit hard and felt that i cut myself.. and the toilet paper had a little bit of blood.. not that much but it had. I checked and i have a little cut in the anus and is kinda red. i cleaned it with water and it hurt. if im just laying down or standing up i dont feel it but if i sit i do. Is this considered anal fissure?? im confused.. and what should i do? could i get an infection because of the bacteria of the poop?

Brief Answer:
Hemorrhoid or anal fissure.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks you for asking your query on HealthcareMagic.

As per your query,
Bright red blood has been recently produced and means that the bleeding has come from the area around the anus. The most likely cause in your case is a swollen blood vessel or a small tear around your anus.

However, rectal bleeding should never be ignored as it can also be the sign of a more serious health condition, including colorectal carcinoma.
But as per your history you can see a tear mark near your anus. It can be a haemorrhoids or an anal fissure, which usually presents as a small tear in or near the anus.

Haemorrhoids, also called piles, are swollen blood vessels in the rectum or anus. These can cause bleeding when passing stools and are very commonly observed as blood on toilet paper while wiping.

An anal fissure is a small tear in the lining of the anal canal. It is thought that most cases of anal fissures are caused when a large, hard stool is passed and damages the anal canal. This problem can also occur in people whose anal sphincter tone (the muscle that controls the anal opening) is too tight and cannot relax to pass the stool.

so in your case it can be most likely an anal fissure or hemorrhoids.
I would suggest you to go for physical examination by a general surgeon. Digital examination of rectum along with proctoscopic examination would be done by him/her to rule out possbility of internal fissure or hemorrhoids.

Yes as feaces can come in direct contact with your tear there are possibility of infection. I would intially suggest you to clean the woun with Betadine and apply Antibiotic cream locally over it.
A coverage with a broad spectrum amtibiotic like cefixime can be taken. To subside inflammation take a anti inflammatory like Diclofenac and anti histaminc like allegra.

Brief Answer:
Erosion of mucosa.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
In that case it may be a simple tear or breach of mucosal lining. Most likely the cheap toilet paper has eroded the mucosa.
However only a physical examination can make things clear.
