Question: Hello, I am on buisness travel in Germany at the moment. for a few weeks I have gotten little red dots on my hands every now and again, I always assumes it was from winter weather and being dried out. When I left on Friday I noticed these bumps again, came and went, then Monday I got some on my feet, yesterday on my bottom legs, and today on my hands and all up my legs very bad. I stopped at a drug store and took an anti-histamine about 2 hours ago but should I do anything else?

Brief Answer:
Acute urticaria

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query and photograph.
You might have developed acute urticaria, the photograph is suggestive of this.

It is an allergic condition. Anything including food, cloth, change in climate, pollens, etc., can cause urticaria. I will suggest that you find the cause. A detailed blood work up and allergy tests are necessary to find the exact cause. You should meet a dermatologist and get yourself examined when you are back from tour.

At the moment it is good that you have taken an anti histamine. It will relieve you of symptoms. Since you already had one few hours ago, you can wait for another 8-12 hours to repeat the dose if needed. If symptoms persist, you might need steroids like prednisolone which is a prescription only drug.

Let me know if you have any other doubt.
Thank you.
