Brief Answer:
modify food intake and do a stool culture

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

diarrheas lasting for more than a couple of days require investigation with stool culture. If they last for more than a week testing for ova and parasites is also required. Imodium is OK for symptomatic relief unless there is fever or blood in the stool or the stool is not "normal", that is if there is no real stool (only mucus for example). Water and electrolyte replenishment is required to avoid dehydration and renal injury. Drinking enough fluids is recommended.

During acute diarrhea you should avoid milk, fiber and fat. Simple carbohydrates like rice and protein is recommended. For example rice with chicken is fine.
