Suggest Treatment For Acid Reflux, Herpes Simplex-1 And Constant Clearing Of Throat
Question: I have acid reflux as well as herpes simplex 1. I have to constantly clear my throat and to draw deep breaths to breathe properly. My lungs have been tested and
are fine. I don't smoke. I have no heart condition or diabetes. Sometimes I get this heaviness on my chest and am unable to breathe properly, the nose gets blocked and I can't sleep due to fear that I will suffocate.

There are many causes for blocked nose. .. Deviated nasal septum, enlarged turbinates, allergies in the nose , infections in the nose, polyps and growths in the nose.
Only an examination by an ENT specialist will get us closer to the diagnosis. All the above conditions can be treated effectively, so please don't worry.
Apart from the above, reflux diseases can also cause wheezing and heaviness in the chest and breathing difficulty, especially at night. So, that also needs to be considered for your symptoms. Along with omeprazole you can also take prokinetics. This helps to control the symptoms of reflux really well, talk to your doctor about it.
Please see an ENT soon, till then you can get relief from the nose block by using decongestant nose drops like otrivin (oxymetazoline). Instil 3 drops in each nostril 2-3 times daily for 5 days and follow it up with steam inhalation. Remember this is only a temporary solution, till you can see the doctor.
