Brief Answer:
Yes tomato would increase the problem.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for query.
Yes tomato contains citric acid.In gastritis and reflux disorders the mucosa is inflammed hence when citric acid would come in contact with inflammed mucosa it would increase production of mucous causing increased breathing problem.
Treatment-Please request your gastroenterologist to start you on PPI-antacids like Rabeprazole or Esomeprazole.Esomeprazole can be used in the dosage as high as 80 mg twice daily.Trials have shown that esomeprazole is superior to other PPI's in controlling reflux symptoms. Also, request him/her to add Domperidone 30mg or Levosulpiride(both are prokinetic)slow release once daily. This will slow down the reflux of acid back.Prokineic should be added in your regimen.
An antacid containing local anesthetic (Mucaine gel ) should be taken 2tsf thrice daily.
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
It's very safe, don't worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,

Nexium and all proton pump inhibitors are one of the safest class of medication available in modern medicines.

Please try to understand these articles are more of theoretical purposes and have nothing to do with practicing medicine.

In theory, any such medication can cause death but in practice, these adverse effects are almost never seen.

You can take Nexium safely.

Thanks!

Why thenthe fuss ? And its from a reliable source
doctor
Answered by Dr. Ramesh Kumar (5 hours later)
Brief Answer:
if we go by this a person can't take any medicine in medical science.

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
As per NCBI-(Only reliable source for doctors)-

The investigators conclude that 5 to 12 years of continuous PPI therapy presents no major safety concerns. Among the host of potential side effects of PPIs previously suggested, concerns of gastric atrophy and neoplasia were not supported by study findings, but an elevated risk for femoral fractures was indicated in case-control studies, resulting in a prescribing warning in some countries. The current data from prospective, randomized trials of long-term PPI therapy suggest that SAEs are uncommon and occur at similar rates in those patients not taking PPIs.

Please follow only NCBI datas.
The National Center for Biotechnology Information ( NCBI) is part of the United States National Library of Medicine.

Clinically its a very safe drug however side effects are associated even when we breath air. With every breath we take million of external bacterias inside lung.
So don't unnecessarily google too much.
Thanks!

Why they write articles to scare people ? If its potential life threatning , they should have stopped producing it..
doctor
Answered by Dr. Ramesh Kumar (10 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
follow up.

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
Its all a part of business.
Firstly they would promote such rumours about a medicine after that they would advertise a natural or herbal sham product to make money.

Omeprazole is an over the counter medicine due to feel that a life threatening medicine would be OTC?

So don't worry just take nexium it won't harm you.
