Suggest Treatment For Achy Muscles And Numbness In Limbs

default
Posted on Mon, 10 Aug 2015
Question: Among my symptoms are aching muscles from the base of my extremities to the ends of fingers or toes. Also something like electric shocks will shoot through my limbs resulting in residual cramps for the next 3-4 minutes. Although I have aching muscles, at the same time they go numb so that I can't feel with my fingers when doing activities such as gripping the steering wheel for more than 15 minutes. And the latest symptom is deep, constant itching in practically every muscle, especially painful IN face and hands.

Brief Answer:
Possible causes.

Detailed Answer:
Good day.
Noted your concerns.. Wide variety of conditions can cause your symptoms. My first advice would be to do a good neurology examination particularly to look for evidence of neuropathy and to evaluate your cervical spine.
Other conditions associated with your symptoms are hypothyroidism, certain vitamin deficiencies, calcium/magnesiun/potassium /sodium disorders, vitamin D deficiency , diabetes and anxiety.

Alcohol and smoking also can cause this.

My advice would be to do a structured clinical examination by your PCP and do following tests.
1.CBC
2.Serum calcium, potassium, magnesium, sodium
3. vitamin b12, vitamin D, foliate levels.
4. Thyroid profile
5. 8 am serum cortisol
6.fasting sugar levels
7.urine routine.
8. if clinical examination warrants, then an MRI scan of cervical spine with brain screening.

Regards.
Binu
