Brief Answer:
On Coumadin hence possibility of hematoma to be ruled out first

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Male/62 - on Coumadin - Bilateral Lap Inguinal Hernia 11 hours ago - difficulty urinating - great deal of swelling/significant on both sides of stomach - but no swelling near groin - no fever - little pain as on pain pills - 2 blocks and General for procedure - icing and taking Vicodin - hard to touch on sides of stomach when standing - softer while lying down - wants to know whether this is normal...

My thoughts after reading reading the history:
Since you are on Coumadin and got operated within 12 hours, the chances of the swelling being hematoma are to e considered as the first diagnosis.
I would advise you the following:
Tests of blood: CBC, bleeding time, clotting time, prothrombine time- PT and to get INR values and to get corrected if abnormal.
High resolution ultrasound and color doppler followed by a CT scan if hematoma is suspected to get a confirmed diagnosis and get further treatment according to the reports.
Getting the correct diagnosis is of utmost importance.
I hope, this answers your query and helps you to get an early diagnosis and proper treatment.
