Suggest Treatment For A Rash On The Head Of The Penis

default
Posted on Thu, 7 Jul 2016
Question: Im a 36 year old, circumsized man. Recently i developed a severe rash on the glans of my penis. After several months of treating what doctors believed was a fungal infection, i visited a dermatologist who said i had eczema.

I was prescribed protopic twice daily until clear. Ive been treating now for two weeks. The itching and pain are gone, but much of the redness remains. Any idea how long this might take to clear?

Is there anything in additon to protopic that i can do to help clear this?

I also read that there is a risk of skin infections such as herpes, chicken pox and shingles with protopic. Does this mean i am more succeptible to a new infection or does it mean only if i have suffered from those skin infections in the past that i may be prone to a recurrence?

Brief Answer:
Response will take 5-6 weeks, continue with protopic only

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at Health Care Magic
I have gone through your complaints and can understand your concern.
With protopic ointment eczema usually takes 5-6 weeks to resolve completely.

For faster clearance steroidal creams can be used but if your response to protopic ointment is fine you need not use steroid preparations and continue with protopic ointment only.

The risk of infections with the use of protopic ointment is mostly theoretical and is rarely seen in practicality though it can occur in rare situations.

The infections can rarely present for the first time or can rarely recur in a previously infected person.
You need not worry about it as it is rare occurrence.
