Suggest Treatment For A Flat Red Rash On The Leg
Question: I have had a flat red rash for a year on my left leg. It looks like contact dermatitis. Have used cortizone and corticosteroids to some success, but it never goes away. It has irregular edges , color is uniform.
It is itchy and looks mildly swelled. The last dermatologist said "put lotion on it and come back in a year!
My faith in him is Not! I found an old tube of Clotrimazole/ Bethamethazole/Diproprionate cream (1%/0.5%)
Tried it yesterday and it looks a little better. Should I continue and call my Primary for a new Rx or not?
Can you refer me to a Dermitologist who accepts AETNA Medicare In my ZIP code area?

Contact dermatitis is swollen, red, itchy will have oozy vesicles. Yes they have irregular edge too.
I do not think the old tube is of any use to you now. It should be pure and stronger prescription based steroid that needs to be applied.
It may look better now because this old tube has mild steroid but it is not perfect treatment.
I suggest you to meet a Dermatologist directly than a primary. They can give you prescription strength steroid cream.
